Church Teamwork

“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” -Henry Ford

Philippians 1:27
“…that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;”

When a church will come together, stay together, & then work together in the power of God’s spirit there is no telling what can be accomplished to the glory of God. For this to happen it requires preparation, planning, humility, and hard work.

The devil is fine with you working alone. He is fine with you isolating yourself from your church body and retreating to your own home. This is why I believe so many fall prey to his traps of luring you to points of pride where you get upset with your Pastor, you’re not happy with your church family, or you won’t be a part of a ministry your church has for your family for small and very selfish reasons. These things keep a church from moving forward, and really keep you from moving forward in your Christian walk.

The very essence of sin is selfishness. Whether it was Abraham who lied to save his own neck, or David who committed adultery to fulfill his lust and covetousness, all sin is about being selfish. Selfish Christians don’t serve, and they don’t stay. They will use catch phrases like, “I prayed about this” or “I have peace that this is what I should do”, but their whole decision process is about themselves and not serving the needs of others.

Resist the fleshly urge to only serve yourself, and the desire to justify selfishness with “spiritual excuses”. We are all called to serve others through the body of Christ. It will take coming together, staying together, and working together or as the Word of God puts it, “striving together for the faith of the gospel.”
